Fabi.ai 2023 wrapped 🪩: AI-powered data analysis milestones

TL;DR: What a year! We've evolved from a command-line prototype to a full-featured platform with game-changing AI capabilities for SQL, visualization, and data exploration. Looking ahead to 2024, we're focused on two big goals: making data analysis accessible to everyone while supercharging what data professionals can accomplish.

When Lei and I entered 2023, we had no idea how much we would accomplish (with a special shout out to Yi on our team). We had a budding vision in spring of 2023, and now we’re honored to be partnering with visionaries who are using Fabi.ai every single day to improve their workflows.

“Customer-obsessed” is one of our 4 core values, and every single decision we make starts with “How can we improve the lives of our users?” (this is not hyperbole, we ask this question at least a few times a day).

We wanted to end the year with some highlights as well as a taste of where we’re headed and what your future will look like.

🚀 Product Recap

9 months ago the product was just a prototype in the command line. We thought we’d share it all with you for fun and to show you how far we’ve come:

Fabi.ai prototype

Since this very… rough version of our product, here are the 3 biggest fan favorites we’ve shipped:

  1. AI SQL assistant: No matter your level of expertise with SQL, you can ask the AI to write entire queries from scratch, or tweak specific, gnarly queries. We’ve heard of some analysts spending literal days troubleshooting queries, and we’re putting that to an end.
  2. AI-powered visualization & pivots: You can literally visualize your data hundreds of different ways using plain English. It sounds magical, and it truly is.
  3. Table previews: Any data analysis starts with some basic understanding of the data. We’ve made this easy by providing quick preview of all tables along with key statistics for each field. No more “SELECT * FROM table LIMIT 100”

🔭 Where We’re Headed

We believe AI is going to completely transform the way data is consumed in the enterprise. This is not a step function evolution from the current state. In particular, we believe that insights will become more accessible to all users, improving business decision making and reducing the load on the data team. At the same time, we believe that the data team will be able to get more done because they’ll be able to go from question/hypothesis to answer in seconds, assisted by the AI.

You’ll see us making progress along two major axes:

  1. Lowering the barrier to entry for data analysis: We’re going to continue investing in the self-service analytics to ensure that basic questions can be answered for anyone in your company and they won’t need to ask the data team. This will come in the form of BI integrations with dashboard recommendations, improved AI accuracy and smarter clarifying questions.
  2. Supercharging the data analyst and scientist: By spring 2024, you will be able to do a complete, deep, technical analysis from A-Z in Fabi.ai. You will be able to build models and analyze your data using Python, directly in your notebook and all of this in a fully, real-time collaborative environment. You won’t understand how you did your job before Fabi.ai.

The future is bright, and we’re excited to bring it to you.

For any feedback or features requests, shoot us a note (hello@fabi.ai), we’re here for you!

Grateful for your partnership.
